5/22/03 -- David Grahame's "My 22 Synchronicity Phenomenon"
Web Page
Please visit our fellow tutu's "My Own 22 Enigma Story" at:
http://comp.uark.edu/~dgrahame/22/index.htm
Here are some excerpts from his interesting article:
..... "This has been my own experience as well. My 22's do not seem to be signs of either good or bad luck. Following the 22's does not seem to result in any advantage or disadvantage. They are simply there - everywhere. Again and again. After more than 2 years of it, the magic of this synchronicity has waned for me. Now I'm merely perplexed, frustrated - but in a way, strangely reassured by it. Its familiar recurrence gives me a sense of continuity, of some hidden order to my life.....
..... "Having lunch with my 2 old friends I mentioned above, I told them about all these strange coincidences in my new home. They were good-naturedly pooh-poohing me, saying that I was just focusing on this number to the exclusion of others. I was buying their lunch for having helped me pack moving boxes, and when the bill came, it was for EXACTLY $22.00! (You better believe I've saved this receipt!) My friends had ordered after I did, so I couldn't have even subconsciously ordered to reach this total. And none of us even knew what the tax rate would be - as English teachers, we're poor at math in our heads. But the total bill was exactly 22. Needless to say, that put a startled end to their skepticism!"

10/4/02 -- Excerpt from Chapter 22 of Bringers of the Dawn by Barbara Marciniak
Page 240:
"It is our intention in delivering this final message in chapter 22, the final chapter, to use the vibration of the number 22, a master number. This number is associated with imprinting and delivering into this version of physical reality a master teaching -- a message that involves an encoding. The message is not simply in the way the words are strung together: there are layers of information hidden within the method and unfoldment of this book. Ideas are presented, conflicts arise, solutions are suggested, and inspiration weaves its way through, turning you always to that final commitment to inspire yourself.
"We feel that you will benefit from this orchestration that we have been influencing behind the scenes. There is a process of understanding that this book represents. Where it seems that there has been chaos and confusion, and where it seems as if things have been scrambled, that scrambling has created its own order. This order is being summed up in this final delivery under the stamp of 22."
Barbara Marciniak channels the Pleiadians, ...."a collective of extraterrestrials
from the star system the Pleiades."

22 Enigma Questionnaire: Summary of Responses
1. How long have you been experiencing the 22 Enigma? What age were you when it started? Did something trigger it or have you always felt a connection?
R1: 4 years, since age 19; triggered by Wilson's book, "Cosmic Trigger"
R2: About 22 years, since age 25; triggered by a series of events
R3: 2 years, since age 48; triggered by love relationship but possibly
pre-sensitized also
R4: At least 30 years -- as far back as high school was favorite number;
syncs were periodic up to Dec., '96 when they intensified in frequency
to daily; intensification associated with a "kundalini rising" experience
R5: Probably all through life but developed more interest after age
22, 34 now; no specific trigger except Wilson's book led to thinking about
it as a universal "force"
R6: 26 to 27 years, since age 21-22; nothing about triggering
R7: Total years n/a, since age 35; possibly triggered by first childbirth
but unsure
R8: 33 years, since age 22; triggered by stress and anxiety re. major
life decision (similar to a near-death experience but psychological, not
physical)
2. How did the experience initially affect you; how did you view it?
R1: Curiosity followed by obsession; thought going crazy or higher intelligences
trying to communicate
R2: Quite interesting and exciting
R3: Curiosity only; thought it temporary
R4: Mildly amusing until frequency ramped up, then frightening; thought
going insane
R5: Mildly amused at first and thrillingly amused later, as in funny
= peculiar
R6: Fascinating -- led to interests and studies in coincidence/chance
and synchronicity
R7: Thought it a message just for me which I must try to interpret
R8: Same as R7; the finger of God points to you (for no known reason);
led to studies of Tarot, I Ching, metaphysics and mysticism in general
3. Did you ever tell others about it?
R1: Yes
R2: No, not until finding the article, 22 Enigma
R3: After one year started telling others
R4: Yes, hoped for guidance and forewarning but got none
R5: Yes, told many others but the psychic/emotional impact doesn't
translate well, and especially poorly to those not ready to accept such
a concept
R6: Yes
R7: Yes, told everybody but nobody was interested
R8: No one at all for the first ten years; more after Jung and Wilson
confirmed the possibility that the enigma might not be delusional or pathological
but a form of psychic phenomenon that one must choose how and whom to tell
about sensitively
4. Has this experience changed your life or attitudes in any way? Describe briefly.
R1: Yes, attitudes have changed; read many books and articles, wrote
up own experiences and posted them on a web site
R2: Yes, started reading and thinking more about spiritual, magical
and cosmical subjects
R3: Strengthens the belief that there is more to the universe than
just the material aspects; there really is a spiritual dimension and that
provides hope
R4: Yes, very much so; became a different person
R5: Yes, there is a lot of confusion but there is also a greater religious
feeling and perception: it is as powerful as it is subtle; it is unimaginable
divine power at work
R6: Once; took a 22 sighting as a validation of an activity the respondent
was involved in at the time
R7: Very open to what the meaning might be but hasn't changed attitudes
R8: It provides some assurance that one is connected to an intelligent,
communicating universe; led to research, writing and new acquaintances
5. How has the discovery that there are others having very similar experiences affected your thinking about this phenomenon? Describe briefly.
R1: Provides a support in validating experiences as "real" -- a more
objective corroboration
R2: Glad not to be alone; would like to understand the connection,
if any, between us
R3: Fantastic confirmation but also dread of not being believed due
to being a "copycat" in relation to the 22 Enigma article; realized that
there will be no quick answers; now believes that there is a real mission,
meaning and purpose behind this but is scared of the discoveries, changes
and responsibilities that may go along with it, if pursued
R4: Comforting; synchronicities preceded an increase in metaphysical
understanding; this is a sign that a loving intelligence runs the universe
R5: Wilson's book confirmed suspicions that there were others with
similar experiences, a true revelation
R6: Surprised to discover that so many were having similar experiences
R7: Not seeing it as a personal message any more; now it seems simply
intrinsic to the make-up of the universe but we are just starting to be
aware of it; it's a pre-existing pattern, Truth more than a message
R8: Reassuring but sense of specialness diminished; a revelation that
others could have and were having exactly parallel experiences; thought
this might make "explanation" faster but it hasn't
6. As a group we all have one obvious thing in common that we do not have with any other human beings: we can talk about these 22 synchronicities with each other and have our experiences be automatically validated. This can be viewed as a form of kinship. And the number can be viewed as a totem, an identifying symbol for a particular kinship group. Do you agree with this idea?
R1: Yes, with some certainty
R2: Yes
R3: Absolutely! Yes! Gives a good feeling inside
R4: Kinship perhaps with all experiencers of synchronicity, not just
with experiencers of synchronicity with numbers in general or this number
in particular; it's just a marker on the path -- anything at all would
do
R5: Yes, absolutely; we are chosen; our mission has begun but what
the hell are we supposed to do?
R6: To think so is a normal psychological reaction to shared circumstances
R7: More just a common observation than a kinship; many 22 things,
like pi = 22/7, are merely pre-existing facets of life
R8: The native indian peoples of north america believe in totemic emblems
of kinship (often an animal) and the idea that they will reincarnate together
in the same familial groups; can't entirely rule out the idea
7. Do you think/believe/feel we have anything else in common?
R1: Probably; we may have acquired similar interests in books, similar
beliefs, etc.
R2: Yes
R3: Don't know
R4: Awakening to spiritual experiences and curiosity to know more
R5: Absolutely, yes! Can't wait to find out what
R6: Our tendency to look for coincidences
R7: No more than one would find similarities in any group; as the foregoing
statement was being written, the respondent had a strange feeling inside
telling her that she was wrong about this
R8: What comes to mind is possibly past lives together or at least
past lives spent in a similar preparation for facilitating this kind of
experience in this life, but it's only speculative without proof
8. Do you think/believe/feel that there is some reason why this particular number is involved in our experiences as distinct from other numbers, such as R. A. Wilson's 23, and what might that be?
R1: Yes, read "Bringers of the Dawn" by Barbara Marciniak; same as 23,
many significant meanings of the numbers may be looked up in Thelemic writings
(reference to Aleister Crowley's work)
R2: Yes, but don't know what it is
R3: Beginning a new spiritual adventure unaware of exactly what it
is; the Fool is both 0 and 22 in Tarot
R4: Provided lengthy article written around the concept that "God Doesn't
Play Dice With The Universe;" [of course not, the Universe cheats!]; not
clear how the article was supposed to answer the question
R5: 22 is symbolically different from 23 and we should investigate
the meanings of the numbers as a group
R6: Don't know
R7: Noticing a pre-existing pattern of the universe, an existing thread
R8: There really should be some specific reason or association to this
number which is uniquely its own; the universe would seem more random and
less intelligent if there were no reason for the extreme specificity and
dominance of this number over all others in the synchronicities themselves
9. Would you like to meet other members of the group?
R1,2,3,4,5,7 and 8: Almost unanimously, yes, very much, to exchange
experiences, etc.
R6: Probably not by reason of being too shy; would like to meet the
coordinator only
10. Do you think/believe/feel that synchronistic experiences (with the number or in general) would increase the more of us were together at one time and in the same place?
R1: Yes
R2: Don't know
R3: Don't know
R4: Undoubtedly, that seems to be the way it works
R5: How could it not?
R6: Interesting concept but no data to lead to such a conclusion
R7: Let's try and see!
R8: Tend to think so owing simply to the nature of the thing, but also
think it would be great fun to try; psychic events are
mind-mediated so one's beliefs are part of the equation -- the more
we each believed this to be so, the more it would be
11. Do you think/believe/feel there is anything special or unusual about New York's Hotel Chelsea in relation to the 22 synchronicities (beyond its address and reputation)?
R1: Possibly, why not? Even probably
R2: Don't know much about the place although visited a friend there
once more than twenty years ago
R3: Don't know
R4: No idea
R5: Yes, "I have stayed at that Hotel at the peak of a series of amazing
synchronicities. I did not know anything about the Hotel, and I did not
realize that it was a part of the series until later… until I read another
member's experiences with that particular hotel. Then I couldn’t help but
say, "It figures!"
R6: Intriguing, but generally tend to associate 22 with events and
not places
R7: Have stayed there and really feel that there is a tangible mystery
about the place -- but the desired transformational experiences and 22
syncs did not happen
R8: From its address at 220 23rd Street, its original concept as a
cooperative community where resident artists (who were temporarily financially
embarrassed) were sometimes allowed to pay their rents with their own works
of art, many of which still adorn the place, from the sheer list of famous
writers and other artists who have lived there, from all the high parties
and violent events that have taken place there, including some famous murders
and the shooting of a few films, from the famous faded elegance of the
furnishings and architecture which so enamored the hotel to its hip clientele
from Mark Twain to William S. Burroughs and Arthur C. Clarke [it is reputed
to be at the Chelsea that William S. Burroughs told Robert Anton Wilson
about the 23 Enigma and also at the Chelsea that "2001, A Space Odyssey"
was written] -- from all this history and creative/ destructive energy
the walls (the thickest of any hotel in New York because originally designed
to eliminate noise from neighbors) must literally reek with powerful psychic
imprints accumulated over the hotel's lifetime. Whether this would
translate into an amplifier of 22-energy is speculative but, once again,
a lot has to do with the belief sets we carry around. If one doesn't feel
like believing in something, where psychic phenomena are involved, that's
a pretty good way to prevent the occurrence.
12. Do you think the group should continue or has it served its purpose and should be disbanded?
R1: Continue; it has not served its purpose because cosmic consciousness
and world peace have not yet been established on earth
R2: Continue, for sure
R3: Don't even suggest disbanding
R4: Continue, especially for new people on the same path
R5: Continue
R6: Not a demanding membership and curious about future members; do
not disband
R7: Don't disband; something new might be discovered
R8: It's good to share with others experiencing the same thing; a consensus
or new insights may come along; it's impossible to share it with anybody
else in any case, so what is there to lose?
13. Do you wish to continue to receive email messages sent to the group or would you like your email address removed from the distribution list?
[This question was only inserted because of my frustration with some
members who were extremely enthusiastic on first contact but then were
never heard from again. All respondents to the questionnaire answered 'Yes'
to this question, they
emphatically would like to continue receiving bulletins and updates.
However, I am instituting a new requirement for members to continue to
hear from me. I am asking everybody to contact me at least once or twice
a year to say that they would like to continue to have their email address
kept in the active distribution list. Just a one-line email message will
do as a minimum. If an email address is returned twice as undeliverable,
the address will be deleted from the list and the membership effectively
terminated until a working address is re-supplied. If you have contacted
me via the questionnaire or for other reasons within the last year, you
don't have to do it again. I'm simply trying to install a "dead-man's"
switch since I have a problem about sending messages to black holes.]
14. Do you have any ideas for special projects or research that you would be willing to work on and share with the group in terms of results or findings? Please describe.
R1: Would still like to see some kind of a 'listserve' or special group
email distribution system such as the one the respondent tried to help
set up [comment: I was in favor of this until I went to sign up for it;
then I found that I had to give my life's story to the universe in terms
of the amount of information they demanded in order to gain the "free"
facility of group messaging; I balked; the cost was way too high for me];
respondent states that he doesn't understand why the others in the group
that he proposed this idea to were not interested
R2: No, but willing to help others with their projects or research
R3: Not at the moment
R4: No
R5: Would like the group to consider a rendezvous; respondent would
love to discuss extensive studies she has made
R6: No
R7: Not right now
R8: Doing this is plenty; would like group members to check out work
of Dr. Christine Hardy on "Semantic Fields and Mental Processes" as it
seems to be a scientific theoretical structure for sychronicity, if you
can deal with the science lingo; as a general suggestion, members can find
references to Dr. Hardy's work and tons of incredible information on the
whole field of psychic and paranormal phenomena available at no cost at
the magnificent website: http://www.psiexplorer.com
The answers to many of our questions are coming along and, more importantly,
we are learning to relate to the universe via a new mental paradigm
15. Is there anything you would like to see changed about how the group interacts?
R1: Again, the listserve
R2: Open to ideas -- nothing to offer now
R3: Maybe later
R4: No
R5: Will try to be more committed
R6: No
R7: No
R8: Yes, the group's webpage will soon be converted to a bulletin board
type page where any member can have me post a message, an interesting bit
of 22-data, or whatever but it will no longer contain first-contact letters;
speaking of first contacts, what did you think about the recent Chilbolton
crop-images?
16. Are you now or have you ever been a card-carrying member of the Illuminati? Just kidding, but do you think/believe/feel there could be anything to Wilson's concept of higher beings involving themselves in human affairs via telepathy and synchronicity?
R1: Knows that there is something to the mystique of the Illuminati,
beings whether here on earth or living in the solar system of Sirius who,
according to Wilson, play mind games with humanity through telepathy, have
always done, and have the eye-in-the-pyramid symbol for their emblem; respondent
recently joined the O.T.O., "Ordo Templi Orientis," or Order of the Eastern
Temple, an organization descended from and based upon the teachings of
Aleister Crowley; another organization with an interest in Illuminism is
the Order of the Golden Dawn; unfortunately membership in an organization
does not automatically confer true spiritual illumination, wherein man
can read by his own light
R2: Believes it entirely possible that Wilson's concepts could have
something to do with the 22 enigma
R3: Can't rule it out though hard to swallow; have no better explanation
R4: Yes, if you substitute "our higher selves" for the postulated extraterrestrial
beings
R5: Stuff like synchronicity IS THE VERY STUFF that leads to scary
secret societies. What we're dealing with here could be Illuminati-related
and we may be members [or at least pawns in parapsycologically-orchestrated
schemes] without our ever knowing it
R6: Hard to eliminate as a possibility though quantum physics might
explain it just as well as some kind of higher intelligence
R7: No; doesn't believe in higher and lower beings; told of incidents
of sleep paralysis, however, in which respondent felt the presence of beings
sitting at the foot of her bed having a discussion about her
R8: Everything else about the Universe is so far out and fantastic,
why not this? It does make some logical sense that the continuum of intelligence
among carbon-based entities and perhaps others too does not reach its apex
with the mental level of man
17. Do you believe in reincarnation and do you think/believe/feel that the 22 synchronicities have some connection with this?
R1: In some form, yes; may be connected with the 22 synchronicities
but haven't given it much thought
R2: Yes, but haven't thought about a connection with the 22 enigma
R3: Would like to believe in reincarnation and that there is a connection
but no evidence
R4: Yes, but not fully; thinks process of regression can produce valuable
personal and spiritual insights
R5: Undecided; might believe in it but sees no connection to the 22
enigma
R6: Don't know
R7: Yes, respondent's son took up the violin at age two; when asked
why he liked the instrument so much he said he "knew it;" respondent doesn't
see a connection with the 22 enigma, though
R8: Like Mozart knowing music from the cradle, unlearned outrageous
talent in infancy is only explainable by reincarnation, DNA transmission
or telepathy -- all of which are extreme and paranormally-inclined explanations;
skills and knowledge acquired in other lives may provide a spiritual legacy
predisposing one to having similar skills in this life, including a penchant
for synchronicity and resonance with a particular number; if reincarnation
is accepted as a fact, one might utilize such
phenomena in a planned way to link together a spiritual pattern or
purpose spanning more than one incarnation
18. Do you have a question you would like to ask the other members of the group that is germain to the 22 phenomenon -- something important but not covered here?
R1: No
R2: What do the members of the group think is the reason these synchronicities
happen?
R3: No
R4: No
R5: a) What about other types of synchronicity, have these increased
also?
b) Are synchronicities more common in certain types of circumstances,
such as while traveling or stimulated by music, etc.?
c) Do members have more interest in quantum mechanics as a result of
this phenomenon?
d) Is anybody familiar with C. G. Jung's work?
e) What makes the difference between a coincidence and a synchronicity?
R6: What is your favorite color? [seriously]
R7: No
The responses to the questionnaire were highly informed and cover a
lot of territory. Everybody should be able to find something new and intriguing
to investigate further as their interests may lead them. I would be pleased
to know your reaction to the questionnaire project and in what ways, if
any, it may be helpful to you in your quest to understand the mystery.
